2 History

In 1912 original patents for Comptometer expired. Then Burroughs Company had possibility to fill some patents Patent:US1016501 and Patent:US1023168 improving key-driven machines and they started production of Class 5 Calculators.
Unfortunately first class 5 machines had a "S-lazy" case too similar to patented Comptometer's case and Burroughs had serious license issues . Then a new rounded case was introduced.
Main difference with Comptometer was:

Advanced position of clearing handle. Introduced in Comptometer few years after.
Reduced wigth
An extra key (next to the leftmost 9-key) to help in subtraction by complements. Pressing it, 9 was added to all remaining columns.
